Using Notepad++ for Git commit messages

This is more a way to know where to quickly find the information next time I need it. Some time ago I looked into using Notepad++ to edit my Git commit messages. Thankfully someone had already posted a solution on StackOverflow, but instead of searching for it every time, here’s the setting:

  1. Edit .gitconfig in your user folder

  2. Insert the following lines:

    [core]
editor = 'C:/Program Files (x86)/Notepad++/notepad++.exe' –multiInst –notabbar -nosession –noPlugin

Note: the parameters are wrapped to fit the page’s style… I really need to do something about this!
